To celebrate World Post Day Guizhou held the Amateur Post Cup Go Competition on Oct 9, attracting players to compete for a 10,000 yuan ($1,492) prize pool.

World Post Day celebrates the establishment of the Universal Postal Union in 1874 and highlights the role of postal services worldwide.

According to the competition organizing committee, a total of 256 players took part in eight rounds of the competition.

Go (Weiqi in Chinese) is a board game that originated in China more than 2,500 years ago. It involves two players placing black and white stones on a board in turns, with an objective to surmount the opponent's pieces.
