China (Guizhou) International Alcoholic Beverages Expo

China is a big producer and consumer of alcohol and Guizhou is the hometown of Moutai, the national liquor of China. Three China (Zunyi) International Alcoholic Beverages Expos have been held in Zunyi, Guizhou from 2008 to 2010. They have been put on with the support of the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China (MOFCOM) and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT). The successful alcohol expos used past experiences to help prepare for the 2011 International Alcoholic Beverages Expo (Guizhou).

Approved by the State Council of the PRC, the International Alcoholic Beverages Expo (Guizhou) China will be held jointly by the Ministry of Commerce of the PRC and the People’s Government of Guizhou province from 2011 on.

The first Expo

The 2011 Alcohol Expo, covering an area of 44,000 m2, attracts 820 exhibiting companies, among which 188 from 25 foreign countries, Hongkong, Macau and Taiwan. 3,000 exhibitors, 5,374 buyers and 160,000 visitors came to the Expo. The Expo exhibited a complete line of high-quality domestic and foreign brand names. The expo led to 1,867 trade contracts, 49.74 billion yuan ($7.8b) of trade value and imports and exports of 1.5 billion yuan ($23.58m).

Organizing the expo

An organizing committee is formed for this expo, with Chen Deming, the Minister of the MOFCOM, Zhao Kezhi, Guizhou Provincial Governor as the head, Jiang Zengwei, Vice Minister of the MOFCOM, ShenYiqin, Executive Vice Governor of Guizhou and Meng Qiliang, Vice Governor of Guizhou as head of the executive committee.

Display halls

Display Hall No.1 is for world brand names. It plans to exhibit world famous spirits, wine, beer, and top ten Chinese liquor, wine and beer. It will also demonstrate the history and culture of the famous alcohol.

Display Hall No.2 shows each country’s alcohol culture. It plans to display those countries with more than five companies attending the exhibition (excluding the world brand names in hall No.1).

Display Hall No.3 exhibits the features of each Chinese province’s alcohol culture and industry.

Display hall No.4 shows the history, legacy and culture of Guizhou’s alcohol industry.

Hall No.5 and 6 display the Chinese Baijiu, spirits.

Hall No.7 is for the wine and beer, including the fermented, distilled and mixed liquor.

Hall No. 8 displays the by-products of liquor, such as its packages and manufacturing technologies.

Logistics

The expo has set express passes at the airport, on railways and highways to guarantee a fast and secure delivery. The expo has started to look for foreign logistics companies to serve for the foreign exhibitors, including door-to-door delivery, customs declaration, border check assistance and storage.
