Infobird chose Guiyang, capital of Southwest China’s Guizhou province, as its new headquarters to develop global business. Infobird, one of China’s cloud computing application service providers, set its new headquarters in Guiyang in Sept last year, becoming the first enterprise in Zhongguancun Guiyang Science and Technology Park of Nanming district.

“I made the decision during my Mid-Autumn Festival visit back to Guiyang. The city’s livability and modernization drew me back, not just because it is my hometown,” said Wu, who used to be a resident of Nanming district, Guiyang, before he was admitted to Tsinghua University.

“The lighter your cargo is, the more money you will make.” Wu said high transportation costs in mountainous Guizhou province provides a good environment for high value-added business.

Infobird is one of China’s leading brand for cloud contacts. It plans to locate its 20,000-square-meter Guiyang headquarters at the Longdongbao air-transportation related economic zone. It will begin operating by next Jan.

Wu said the pleasant ecological environment attracted him the most, but he was not sure whether it would work for other talent, especially those from big cities like Beijing.

“Guiyang should be cited as the top ecological city among all the other provincial capitals in China. The good ecological environment provides negative oxygen ions that help to promote creativity.”

The human resources and social security bureau of Nanming district set recruitment points at talent markets in Guiyang and opened online applications to help Infobird absorb talent.

“We have helped Infobird acquire more than 20 talents from universities in Guizhou and other provinces. We also provide temporary work places without charge,” said Li Wei, deputy head of Nanming district.

Infobird, thanks to the Nanming district government, signed a cooperation agreement with Guizhou University of Finance and Economics in Huaxi college town in Oct last year.

The running team of Infobird is expanding to 100 staff workers, with high-tech research personnel occupying 80 percent.

With site selection and staff recruitment settling down, Wu and his group will get to work at their temporary work cell, which is an office of the Nanming district government.

Infobird has also signed contracts with local companies in Guizhou province, including one with China Southern Power Grid Co’s Guizhou branch establishing customer service. Infobird, in this year, will invest 10 million yuan ($1.6 million) to construct its research and development center.
