Guizhou's forest coverage rate reaches 48%

In 2013, Guizhou invested 3.9 billion yuan ($64.43 million) in forestry, with the forest planting area reaching 3,000 square kilometers.

The forest coverage rate in Guizhou is now 48 percent. Guizhou's forestry output value is expected to reach 50.34 billion yuan, reported the Guizhou Forestry Department.

Guizhou is pushing for support of major forestry projects from the State Forestry Bureau to protect the ecological environment. In 2013, Guizhou obtained 10 project planning approvals from the State Forestry Bureau. Guizhou's forestry project reserve is growing steadily.

In 2013, management responsibilities of a national public welfare forest covering more than 3.33 million hectares were allocated in Guizhou. The compensation standard of ecological benefits has increased from 14,925 yuan per square kilometer to 22,388 yuan per square kilometer.
