Guiyang, the capital city of Guizhou province, plans to offer aid to workers, providing one-off payments of 12,000 yuan ($1,921) when the workers in the plan fall seriously ill, according to the Guiyang municipal federation of trade unions.
The plan will be open to 50,000 workers from the city's enterprises and public institutions, who can register via their respective level trade union committee with an annual payment of 50 yuan.
The Guiyang municipal federation of trade unions has set up 19 agent selling points in districts and counties where local workers can register and pay their fees from October 1 to November 30.
The mutual aid period lasts for one year, taking effect the year after the date when workers register and pay for it.
