Guizhou launches official news website

The Colorful-Guizhou website (www.gog.cn) officially went live on Monday, local media reported. The site was put together by a number of media groups and aims to become a prime news source as well as a platform for interactions among its visitors, according to a spokesman during the launch ceremony.

The site will further strengthen the public's network development in the province, said Zhao Kezhi, party chief of the CPC Guizhou committee in his congratulatory letter which was read out at the ceremony.
"With the internet playing a much more important role in people's lives, it's crucial to have a site that demonstrates the goodness of Guizhou and brings viewers the beauty of the province," Zhao said.
Chen Miner, governor of Guizhou province, also highly praised the establishment of the Colorful-Guizhou website, while adding that it is a great achievement for Guizhou's cultural industry, and the site will open a window for outsiders who want to know and learn more about the province.
According to Yan Shizhong, president of the Colorful- Guizhou website, the domain name of GOG stands for Glory of Guizhou, a name easy to remember.
Yan also announced that the site is currently looking for help with its logo from the community. Anyone who comes up with the most suitable idea will receive 200,000 yuan ($32,186.68) as a reward.
