Hewlett-Packard, the largest server retail group, has recently announced a decision to help Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, to carry out a series of cooperation projects in order to speed up the city's IT development speed. A significant strategic cooperation agreement was signed between the Guiyang municipal government and Hewlett-Packard.

During the recent summit, jointly held by HP China and local governments of Guiyang, senior officials from both sides announced the long-term cooperation established on the foundation of complementary advantages to benefit both parties.

According to the agreement, signed on July 30, a comprehensive big data center relying on the platform of the Guiyang Free Trade Zone will be established. The big data center will cover areas of international finance and trade, cross-border e-business, education and training, medical services and agriculture by using cutting-edge technology of cloud computing, big data and mobile Internet.

"Our plan is to help Guiyang establish a multi-function data center with our experience and technologies. After completion, the 10,000-square-meter data center will have the capacity of 50,000 servers," said Li Weichong, chief information officer of HP China.
