Seeking for the methods to develop the geology and mineral economic in the underdeveloped Guizhou province in the market economy is what He Gang, a NPC deputy from Guizhou, has been thinking in recent years.

The geology and mineral economic faces investment decrease, furious competition and profit shrinkage under the new normal, said He as the only NPC deputy from the field of geology and mineral.

For the economy of China, the new normal is growth under 8% and a continual, steady rise in urbanization.

"In the new normal, risks and challenges should be considered and examined to find the key elements of geology and mineral economic development," said He in an interview.

"Geology is the frontier of society and economic development", He added, "The traditional geology characterizes planned economy with inflexible mechanism, weak sense of market." Guizhou, in southwest China, has huge potential of development, which should be boosted by deepening reform.

Last year, the Guizhou bureau of geology and mineral has been focusing on enhancing the abilities of mineral exploration and services, and on improving geological economic development.

Meanwhile, the mechanism reform and tap new sources of economic growth, and industrial structure transformation won breakthrough, which strengthened the development of geology and mineral, according to He.

"On last year's two sessions, I submitted a proposal that was to integrate relevant policies to develop geothermal energy, although the policies from the State still out of sight, Guizhou geology and mineral exploitation bureau took positive action on the technology exploration in the field," said He.

"On this year's two sessions, I will pay attention to people's livelihood from the perspective of geology and mineral industry," He added,"To find opportunities and advantages from the policies introduced by the State".

The one belt and one road along with Yangtze River economic zone make Guizhou a transportation junction of the southwest, which provide Guizhou geology and mineral exploration industry opportunities to go out.

"In the new normal of economy, geological work should grasp the opportunities from macroeconomic policies and opening up of the State to develop geological industry to a new level," said He.
