When the 10-day China International Beer Festival, in the city of Guiyang，Guizhou province has its grand opening, on Aug 28, it will be the world's second biggest brewer festival, just behind Germany's Oktoberfest, in Munich.

The China International Beer Festival Committee has hosted the event for 17 years now, after its introduction in 1999 and this year it will have a theme of "Beer and beautiful Guiyang".

There will be two enormous tents erected for the "China Venue" and "World Venue", for both Chinese and international beers, and a beauty pageant for beer-loving ladies, along with a drinking competition, lucky draw, and various performances, every night at 7:00 pm, from Aug 28 to Sept 7.

The organizers have asked a choir to join the other performing artists, including Guizhou folk artists, to give visitors a real carnival effect, and they are asking for mascot design suggestions, more for food stalls, and help with a celebrity themed activity and advertising.

There will be a multi-media site for TV and radio broadcasting, advertising, LED screens, newspapers and the Internet that is expected to reach an audience of up to 200 million, to promote the event so that, in the words of one of the organizers, "We hope this festival can be used as a site to introduce local brands and promote them to the world."
