SW China city working on digital reform

The city of Zunyi, in Guizhou province has announced that it is working with a hi-tech company in the city of Shenzhen, Guangdong province to become an "intelligent city" and astronautics center after a Zunyi delegation paid a visit to Shenzhen, Aug 6-7.
The delegation got a look at leading hi-tech companies, including the Guangqi Higher Institute of Technology, set up just five years ago, with the focus on astronautics, online finance, spatial services, and intelligent cities.
Guangqi holds some leading technology and patents and, with Zunyi's location advantages, expects to pursue mutual benefits and long term development, according to Wang Xiaoguang, the Secretary of Zunyi CPC Committee.
Zunyi will be using Guangqi's technical support in optical fiber development and for pushing entrepreneurships in intelligent city work and astronautics, through a mass database, and, in Wang's words, "Zunyi is in a golden age of digital development and on the verge of massive reforms and with the help from Guangqi, we expect to see a range of undertakings in Zunyi, and a better use of local resources."
Liu Ruopeng, director of the Guangqi institute of technology and a graduate of Duke University, US, says that it is the company's honor to be able to expand its business in Zunyi, the site of a modern revolution, and, "Expanding to Zunyi is going to be a new challenge for us, but we're looking forward to the new opportunities."
