Guizhou province has seen strong growth in its big data industry, especially in the city of Guiyang, in data handling and data storage, security and evaluation, with officials reporting more than 1,200 big data companies established in the first half of 2015 in Guiyang.
They also say they are expecting to get 2,000 well-educated professionals and to develop an industry that is worth more than 110 billion yuan ($17.16 billion) and, according to Mo Liren, deputy director of the International Chinese Network during a visit to the big data center, "Guiyang's choice of giving priority to big data, an innovative business, is clever, and I see Guiyang as a much better place than it was 30 years ago when I was here. Simply impressive."
Wang Weiping, chief editor of Chinese Street, a French website, praises Guiyang's support for labor by saying, "Labor is the key to success for big data and any other industry, and, the way I see it, Guiyang will have more long-term advantages by attracting hi-tech workers," then added, "I can already picture a more developed, more international Guiyang with a big data sphere with far-reaching influence globally."
