RoboCup finals in Guiyang in mid-October

A total of 400 robot teams from 300 universities and colleges across China will compete in the 2015 RoboCup finals in Guiyang, Guizhou province Oct 17-19, which will see robots competing in as many as 100 activities, such as rescue work, service tasks, logistics, sports and games and education, according to the organizers.

The contest has been held annually since 1999 with the idea of advancing the role of artificial intelligence and this one will bring in research institutes and high-tech companies from Northern Europe, Australia and Southwest Asia, as well as universities and governments, who will be able to discuss the future of artificial intelligence at various forums.

The host, Guiyang, says that it hopes to become a high-tech, innovation hub and already had deals with technological heavyweights such as Qualcomm, Alibaba, Tencent Holdings, and Foxconn, and more than 1,200 big data companies in the first half of 2015.
