During a release conference at the 2019 Big Data Expo held in Guizhou's capital city Guiyang on May 27, two agricultural projects from Guizhou province were selected as leading models in integrating big data with poverty alleviation efforts.

The kiwi industry project in Xiuwen county ranked at the top, while the pitaya industry project in Luodian county, Qiannan Bouyei and Miao autonomous prefecture ranked third. Both projects adopt big data technology to increase income for farmers.

The projects were selected according to the internet communication status of big data poverty alleviation cases in 2018. Guizhou ranks first with 658,000 of social volume in west China, where the poverty alleviation policies, funds, technologies, and projects are pooled together.
