Guiyang airport passes International Health Airport test

Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport passed the domestic inspection and acceptance for being designated as an International Health Airport, according to an announcement made by the Commerce Department of Guizhou province on July 3.
The title of International Health Airport is an authoritative certification of the World Health Organization (WHO) measuring an airport's ability to safeguard public health through prevention and control. Establishing an International Health Airport has strengthened Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport's ability to respond to public health risks, avoiding unnecessary interference with international transportation and trade, as well as the international spread of diseases.
Since work started at the end of 2017 to establish an International Health Airport, the core competences of Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport have continuous improved, including communication and coordination ability, emergency response ability, as well as laboratory testing ability.
Its medical and health service system improvements have seen remarkable achievements. Sixteen hospitals have been designated within a 50-kilometer radius of the airport to provide medical support for emergency rescue of the airport. Relevant medical and health institutions, as well as vaccination service personnel also provide assistance.
The airports' customs strictly control the inspection of entering and exiting aircrafts, checking food, drinking water, and environmental safety, as well as vector biological control and infectious disease management. It also adheres to the strict management on 84 food production and operation units, as well as water supply units within range of the airport.
Under the supervision of its customs, the airport has improved its processing power on solid and liquid wastes. The airport customs also cooperates with Guiyang Customs and the management committee of Guizhou Shuanglong Airport Economic Development Zone to strengthen the monitoring and management of vectors, such as rats, mosquitoes, flies, and cockroaches within the airport and the surrounding 400 meters protective belt.In addition, the airport has invested greatly in its greening, public service, sanitary management, and personnel training to meet the requirements of being an International Health Airport.
