The Guizhou Library in Guiyang – capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – recently installed a 3,000-square-meter intelligent stacking room with a capacity of 3 million books and the first tranche of 400,000 books is available to be borrowed.

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the Guizhou Library is providing online book borrowing and returning services for the public. Readers can borrow books on Alipay and WeChat's applets, or the official WeChat account of the Guizhou Library.

When ordered, the books will be sent to the readers in three days through express delivery. Each book can be borrowed for 30 days and be extended for an extra 15 days. Readers only need to pay for the freight fees.

When returning the books, readers can either choose to send back the books via express delivery, or return them to Guizhou Library by themselves.

Each book is disinfected before entering the stacking room to ensure the safety of the readers. For the first 1,000 readers borrowing books online, Guizhou Library will exempt their freight fees and each online order can borrow up to five books.
