Guiyang, Guian accelerate urban road building

Updated: December 8, 2021

During the past five years, the urban road network in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has been optimized its road network with Guian New Area.

The network's roads have reached a total length of 2,100 kilometers, which is 6.1km per square kilometer on average.

Since the extended section of Binyang Avenue connecting Guiyang's Guanshanhu district and Guian opened to traffic at the end of last year, commuting times between the two areas have been reduced to half an hour.

The road is 20 km long with eight traffic lanes and has a maximum driving speed of 80 kilometers per hour.

Another road, the south section of Renmin Avenue, allows people to drive from Guiyang's city center to Huaxi district in 20 minutes.

Renmin Avenue is 6.47 km long and 40 meters wide, with six traffic lanes. It has helped to solve Guiyang's traffic problems on north-south roads, and is connected with middle-ring and first-ring roads.

Currently, Guiyang has four ring roads – the first-ring road, middle-ring road, second-ring road and ring expressway – as well as 16 roads built in a radial pattern, forming a rural-urban express transportation network.

Other roads connecting Guiyang and Guian are also under construction, such as Guantan Avenue connecting Guanshanhu district, Huaxi district and Guian; and Jin'ge Road connecting Guiyang Economic & Technology Development Zone and Guian.

Once all the roads are finished, commuting between Guiyang and Guian will be more convenient, and traffic will be reduced in the city's old town.
