Guiyang city and Guian New Area – in Southwest China's Guizhou province – on Feb 27 released guidelines for promoting their rural revitalization in 2022, which are understood to focus on agriculture, rural areas and farmers.
According to the guidelines, Guiyang and Guian will promote the large-scale crops industry, the eco-friendly animal husbandry sector, their industry supply chains, the integration of agriculture and tourism, the advanced seeds and seedling industry and jointly develop urban agriculture.
Guiyang and Guian will expand the industrial scale of Xiuwen county's kiwi fruit crops, Kaiyang county's production of selenium-rich grain and oil, Huaxi district's strawberries and Baiyun district's mushrooms.
Both areas will improve 40,000 mu (2,666.67 hectares) of low-output fruit, traditional Chinese medicine and tea-planting areas. They will promote their featured agricultural products to the world, promoting the transformation and upgrading of the animal husbandry sector.
In 2022, Guiyang and Guian's output value for the agricultural product processing industry is expected to top 70 billion yuan ($11.07 billion) and the conversion rate of primary agricultural products is expected to reach 60 percent.
Relying on research institutions and universities, Guiyang and Guian will accelerate their integrated development of the seeds industry and explore potential improvement of crop varieties with local features.
Guiyang and Guian will also promote the integration of tourism and agriculture by benchmarking successful experience in leisure agriculture, farmhouse hospitality and rural hotel development.
