An online and offline promotional event for data security capability maturity mode (DSMM) national standards and the data trade industry was held in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, on April 13.

The event aims to help companies improve their data security management capabilities and achieve rapid and healthy development.

As big data, cloud computing and artificial intelligence have developed rapidly in recent years, data has become a strategic resource in the digital era.

DSMM evaluation assesses the data security capabilities of companies and organizations according to national standards of informational security technology and the data security capability maturity mode, as well as implementation guidance on the development of data security capabilities.

The evaluation is meant to help companies and organizations find their shortcomings in data security, promote exchanges between data features, and give full play to the value of data features.

As China's first national big data comprehensive pilot zone, Guiyang has launched various regulations on data security and data sharing and established China's first engineer research center involving big data security.

With help from the research center, Guizhou has pioneered pilot DSMM evaluation according to national standards. The center was also approved by the State Administration for Market Regulation to become China's first certified DSMM service provider in 2021.
