Guiyang city – capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – is moving to bolster its "Cool Guiyang" brand by offering both visitors and local people a great experience in health, culture, sightseeing, food, shopping and travel.

In the first quarter of this year, Guiyang's added value from the tourism and tourism-related industries and the number of tourists spending the night there did brilliantly. These and the average spend of tourists, the number of tourism companies above a designated size – those with annual revenue of 20 million yuan ($2.99 million) or more – and the growth rate of cultural and tourism revenue all reached or exceeded their targets.

In 2022, Guiyang and Guian aim to achieve 31.1 billion yuan in added value from its tourism and tourism-related industries, increase the business revenue of the hotel industry by 20 percent year-on-year and by 15 percent in the culture, sports and entertainment industries.

Guiyang and Guian also aim to attract 20 million tourists to spend the night, and the per capita spend of tourists is expected to reach 1,370 yuan in 2022.

This year, Guiyang and Guian will participate in the construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle, promote the launch of a 144-hour visa-free transit policy and construct the National Long March Cultural Park.

Meanwhile, Guiyang will boost tourism development with big data, boost links with China's online travel agencies and push to have more online tourism platforms invest in Guiyang.

Plans are for Guiyang to support the Tianhetan scenic area to become a national resort area, support Xiuwen county to develop as a national all-for-one tourism demonstration area and expand the scale of Qingyan Ancient Town, Yangming Cultural Park and the Yunman Lake scenic area.
