Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year's International Mountain Tourism Day will be celebrated online on May 29, with an event entitled "Mountain Tourism Promotes Healthy Life and Cultural Exchange".

International Mountain Tourism Day, initiated by the International Mountain Tourism Alliance (IMTA) in 2018, aims to raise public awareness of the importance of protecting mountain resources, encourage the tourism sector to promote the sustainable development of mountain tourism, and provide a cooperation platform for IMTA members.

The online celebration will invite IMTA members, travel agencies, tourism companies and experts to introduce the latest mountain tourism information, stories, business models and products.

In Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province and home to the headquarters of IMTA, onsite shopping festivals, promotional events and a photography exhibition will be held on the same day to introduce mountain tourism to young entrepreneurs and customers.

IMTA members and mountain tourism organizations from across the world will organize various activities to celebrate the day, such as a mountain marathon activity in Nepal, hiking on volcanoes in Ecuador, and outdoor sports events in China.
