Guiyang city wants to boost its summer tourism and the capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province held a news conference on June 21 to reveal details of its plans to do so.

It wants to promote the city's brand of Cool Guiyang, which aims to offer visitors and locals great experience in health, culture, sightseeing, food, shopping and travel.

According to the conference, Guiyang will release seven themed tour routes in the summer for camping, hiking, riding, outdoor sports, family trips, city tours and homestays.

All the scenic spots above national A-level and hotels will offer discounts and launch package tickets with airlines.

The city is located at 26 degrees north latitude, with an average elevation of 1,100 meters and an average temperature of 22.3 C in summer – with more than 10,000 negative oxygen ions per cubic centimeter and an average wind velocity of fewer than three meters per second.

These factors make Guiyang an ideal place to avoid the summer heat. Guiyang is also rich in Confucian culture, Red Army history and ethnic culture.

Over the past five years, it has established 1,025 parks, achieved a 41.8 percent greening rate, and its forest coverage rate has reached 55 percent.

In Guiyang, visitors can taste a wide variety of marvelous local foods, such as sour soup fish, pepper chicken and silk doll roll.

Guiyang's featured commercial areas have seen booming development in recent years, with people-benefit markets and convenient stores now common in its sub-districts. While traveling, tourists have a lot of special goods to choose from, such as Guizhou's wine, tea, Miao embroidery, medicine, and fruit.

Guiyang has 41 scenic spots above the national A-level, as well as another 7,300 tourist attractions. In the city, every visitor can find something to their personal taste.
