The Cambodia-China Cooperation Forum was held both online and offline in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, on June 29.

The forum was organized by the Royal Embassy of Cambodia, China-ASEAN Business Council, and RCEP Industrial Cooperation Committee, and RCEP Industrial Cooperation Research Institute and undertaken by the Nanming bureau of commerce.

At the forum, guests from China and Cambodia discussed how to boost cooperation in trade and investment between both countries.

Guiyang has a strong foundation for trade cooperation with Cambodia. In 2021, the value of trade between Cambodia and Guiyang-Guian was 61.23 million yuan ($9.13 million), an increase of 84 percent year-on-year.

In the first four months of this year, the number was 47.35 million yuan, an increase of 211 percent year-on-year.

In September of last year, Guiyang and Cambodia's Ta Khmau signed a letter of intent to establish a partnership.

As the RCEP and China-Cambodia Free Trade Agreement took effect on Jan 1 this year, Guiyang and Cambodia will have more opportunities to enhance cooperation.

Guiyang and Guian will be focusing on key industries, products and companies to spread awareness of RCEP policies and encourage companies to achieve breakthroughs in Cambodia's market.

They will also open more logistics channels with RCEP member countries by promoting the stable operation of international railway routes with ASEAN countries and opening international cargo flights to Southeast Asia.
