The major section of the Jinsha-Xifeng Wujiang River Bridge located in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, was completed on July 10.

The bridge is 1,473.5 meters long with three lanes in both directions and a designed speed of 100 kilometers per hour. It will become the most convenient way to travel between Guiyang and Chengdu, and shorten the travel time between the two cities by 30 minutes.

The construction team has adopted prefabricated steel wire strands, allowing them to complete the traction of main cables in 1.5 months and reduce costs by 60 percent.

Located within the two-kilometer area of the Yangtze River ecological protection area, the bridge is designed to be environmentally friendly. During construction, all the waste slag was transported to designated locations, all construction waste was cleaned up, and the water and rainwater were recycled and reserved for centralized treatment.

Guizhou currently has 44 bridges with special structures, 51 world top 100 highest bridges, four world top 10 highest bridges, and four bridges honored with the Gustav Lindenthal Medal.
