Updated: July 14, 2022

Guiyang city and Guian New Area – both located in Southwest China's Guizhou province – have to date established more than 3,000 fresh markets.

They include fresh product supermarkets, farmers' markets, big fresh markets and community greengrocers – all of them within 15 minutes walk.

To ensure the supply of their agricultural products, Guiyang and Guian have boosted the build-out of vegetable plantations and expanded the sales channels for main agricultural product wholesale trading markets.

Statistics show that Guiyang's primary agricultural product wholesale trading markets have – since they went into operation – sold 328,000 metric tons of agricultural products produced in Guizhou worth 4.12 billion yuan ($609.71 million), while other fresh markets and chain markets have sold 80,700 tons of agricultural products worth 1.29 billion yuan.

In 2022, Guiyang and Guian invested 3.2 billion yuan to establish the Guiyang Agricultural Product Logistics Park and formed the fresh retail market system for 154 people-benefit fresh supermarkets, 135 farmers' markets, 61 large-scale fresh supermarkets and more than 3,000 community greengrocers.

Moreover, during the past three years, Guiyang and Guian have provided financial support of 31.43 million yuan to 72 projects.

Guiyang and Guian have also taken the opportunity to cooperate with East China and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area – to promote the certification of agricultural products and regulate the production technologies for the planting and breeding industries.

Furthermore, Guiyang and Guian have deepened their branding development strategy, expanded the market competitiveness of their agricultural products and improved the brand popularity, reputation and the influence of agricultural products.
