The China (Guiyang) Intellectual Property Protection Center in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, will be put into use in September.

It will be the first such center in the province and will cover a total floor area of 3,000 square meters.

The center is nearly finished decoration and will officially start operating after being approved by the China National Intellectual Property Administration.

The center will open a green channel to shorten the amount of time needed to license patents. In the future, the licensing time for invention patents for high-end equipment manufacturing and new generation information technologies will be shortened from 22 months to just three to six months.

The licensing time for model utility patents will be shortened from eight months to two months, and that for appearance design will be shortened from six months to seven workdays.

The center will provide one-stop intellectual property services integrating rapid pre-review, rapid confirmation of rights, and rapid protection of rights for Guiyang's innovation entities.

It will also support Guiyang's development into a national big data and internet security pilot city, support Guiyang's innovation-driven development, create a good environment for innovation, entrepreneurship and business, and serve the Western Development Strategy and Belt and Road Initiative.

The center has already started trial operations for registration and archival filing for companies and agencies. So far, it has received applications from 61 companies and 30 agencies, of which 57 companies were filed on archives.
