During the first 10 months of the current year, Guiyang Customs – located in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – issued 326 certificates of origin involving the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, or RCEP.

The certificates are a kind of product passport for RCEP – a giant new Asia-Pacific trading bloc that includes China – which is cutting tariffs in trade between members, in a move that will boost commerce and company profits substantially among members.

The Guiyang certificates involved a goods value of $33.97 million. Most of the goods were chemicals, mineral products and Chinese bajiu, and were exported to Japan, South Korea and Malaysia.

The RCEP certificates of origin are estimated to have saved $1.7 million in import tariffs.

Since RCEP took effect on Jan 1 this year, Guiyang Customs has continued to publicize its policies to enable more companies to benefit from it.

Some 87.8 percent of the certificates were self-printed, which makes cross-border commerce more convenient and saves costs for companies.
