In recent years, Guiyang city and Guian New Area in Southwest China's Guizhou province have been focusing on the construction of a national inland open economy pilot area, and participating more in domestic and international economic cycles.

On Jan 26, the first China Railway Express freight train in the Year of the Rabbit set out, bound for Russia. In January, Guizhou operated four China Railway Express freight trains, providing convenience and opportunities for local companies to go global.

Guiyang and Guian strive to break through the traffic bottleneck, and have created rail, land, air and water import-export networks. Nowadays, Guiyang and Guian are connected to the Guizhou-Chongqing-Xingjiang-Europe international railway logistics channel, as well as the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor.

More high-quality projects and companies have been attracted to invest or settle in Guian New Area, the Guiyang National High-tech Industrial Development Zone, the Guiyang Economic and Technological Development Zone, the Guiyang Free Trade Zone, the Guizhou Shuanglong Airport Economic Zone, and the Guian Free Trade Zone.

According to Guiyang Customs, Guizhou's foreign trade value reached 80.12 billion yuan ($11.88 billion) in 2022, with a year-on-year increase of 22.5 percent.

The reputation and influence of the Big Data Expo, Eco Forum Global, China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week, and the China (Guizhou) International Alcoholic Beverages Expo, all held in Guiyang, continue to expand.

Currently, Guiyang has trade exchanges with more than 190 countries and regions, with 24 international sister cities and cities with friendly exchanges.
