After six years of construction, the first high-speed railway with a designed speed of 350 kilometers per hour connecting Southwest China's Guizhou province and Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region is expected to be fully operational by the end of the year.
The Guiyang-Nanning High-speed Railway starts from Guiyang, capital of Guizhou province, in the north and runs to Nanning, capital of Guangxi. Once put into operation, the travel time between the two cities will be reduced to four hours, which will bring the two cities closer and further strengthen socioeconomic development along the railway.
Afterwards, Guizhou will open up the south-exit high-speed rail channel, which is expected to bolster Guiyang's status as one of the top 10 high-speed rail hubs in China and an important node city in the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor.
Guiyang will have direct access to the surrounding provincial capitals of Changsha, Chengdu, Kunming, Guangzhou, and Nanning, and exchanges of people, logistics, capital and information in these regions will be accelerated.
