Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, ranked second in China in the 2023 China Summer Habitat Suitability Index for Bird Migration-Style Retirement, released in Shanghai on July 5.

Among the top ten cities, three are located on the yunnan-guizhou Plateau, and others are located in Northeast China, Northwest China, and Inner Mongolia.

In recent years, with the increase in income levels and improved transportation conditions, summer habitat-style retirement has become a popular trend among the elderly.

The Habitat Suitability Index for Bird Migration-Style Retirement, developed by the Industry Research Institute of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, aims to provide scientific city selection references for the increasingly prevalent bird migration-style retirement. This is the fourth list to be released since 2020.

Guiyang has a cool climate with an average summer temperature of 23.2 Celsius. Its forest coverage rate is 42.3 percent, making it the central city with the best vegetation preservation in the world's karst regions.

The city has a moderate elevation with an average altitude of 1,100 meters, making it one of the cities with the lowest levels of ultraviolet radiation in the world.

Guiyang's advantageous climate has gained recognition worldwide. It has ranked first on the "2011 Top Ten Charming Cities in China" list, third on the "2011 Top Ten Livable Cities in China" list, and fourth on the "2011 Top Ten Cities with Most Development Potential in China" list.

It also topped the "2011 China's Summer Tourism City List" in the 8th (2011) Domestic and International Summer Tourism Reputation Rankings and made the "2011 Global Top Ten Summer Resort Cities" list.

With the arrival of summer, Guiyang has launched this year's summer tourism promotional activities, inviting people to come and enjoy the city's cool weather.
