The first phase of a new energy charging station project at Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, began operations on Aug 16, providing convenient charging services for new energy vehicle owners at the airport.

The project, based on an investment of over 20 million yuan ($2.74 million), was jointly constructed by the airport and Guian New Area Power Distribution Co.

The first phase consists of a fast-charging center in the northern working area of the airport, and a charging station for public rental housing at the airport. The second phase started construction on Aug 3 and is expected to be completed and put into use in mid-to-late September.

With the popularity of new energy vehicles, accelerating the development of charging infrastructure is of great significance.

The process of charging new energy vehicles is simple and convenient. All users need to do is plugging in the charging cable, scanning the QR code with their phones, and logging in with their accounts and passwords to charge the vehicles.

Mao Liangchuan, deputy general manager of the marketing department of Guian New Area Power Distribution Co, said the first phase of the project can accommodate the simultaneous charging of 40 new energy vehicles while the second phase will be able to accommodate 120 at any one time.
