Guiyang and Guian report 5.7% GDP growth in H1

The gross domestic product (GDP) of Guiyang City and Guian New Area in Guizhou province grew 5.7 percent year-on-year to 241.9 billion yuan ($32.92 billion) in the first half of this year, 1.3 percentage points higher than the province's H1 GDP growth, leading to a 0.3 percentage-point increase in the urban primacy ratio compared to the same period of last year, according to a press conference held on Sept 7.

The average spending per tourist in the city and the number of overnight tourists increased by 8 percent and 41 percent, respectively.

The industrial sector continued to rebound, with the growth rate of added value in the city's industries above designated size exceeding 7 percent.

A total of 552 big data-related enterprises have been introduced, and the big data trading volume has exceeded the annual target ahead of schedule.

The number of newly-cultivated technological innovation platforms exceeded the annual target by 267 percent.

Over 13,000 new talents have been added in the manufacturing sector, over 14,000 in the field of big data, and over 11,000 in practical rural skills, achieving 61 percent, 57 percent, and 83 percent of their respective annual targets.

A total of 76,944 graduate students from universities have chosen to stay and work in the city, representing 77 percent of the annual target.
