The China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week kicked off in Guizhou on Aug 29. The ASEAN-China Digital Education Alliance was established the same day.

The alliance is meant to implement the decisions made at the Third China-ASEAN Education Ministers Roundtable Meeting. So far, nearly 60 institutions from China, Malaysia, Singapore, and other countries have applied to join the alliance.

The alliance will work to enhance cooperation and research in digital education, promoting the collaborative creation and sharing of high-quality digital education resources and facilitating joint efforts between China and ASEAN countries.

It also aims to promote the establishment of regional digital education standards, improve infrastructure for digital education, and enhance capacity building for digital education.

The secretariat of the alliance is located at the Open University of China, and the alliance comprises three working groups for higher education, vocational education, and basic education, as well as three professional committees for policy, research, and technology. Each of these entities is responsible for coordinating cooperation in their respective areas.

That same day, the China-ASEAN Digital Education Forum was featured as the main forum of the China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week. The forum was organized by the Chinese Ministry of Education and hosted by the Open University of China with the theme "Advancing Educational Transformation, Embracing the Digital Future."
