A new cultural and creative block, Xinyin 1950 Discovery, officially opened in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, on May 25.

The block was originally the Guizhou Xinhua Printing Factory, a large State-owned printing enterprise established in 1950, and was primarily engaged in book and journal printing. In 1991, the factory was approved as a designated book printing enterprise at the national level. However, over time, the factory became idle and was ulmtimately abandoned until 2020, when it was approved for tranformation into a cultural and creative park.

During the construction, the original structural elements and architectural style were preserved to the maximum extent, while public spaces and functional facilities were improved.

After two and a half years of careful renovation, the old factory buildings were transformed into a trendy leisure block integrating modern functions and environments, with over 100 popular commercial brands introduced to meet demand for dining, entertainment, and shopping.

In addition to the various trendy items such as the shared study room, karaoke, and food bridge, the block features exhibitions showcasing historical photographs and old printing machines, allowing residents and visitors to thoroughly experience the rich history of Guiyang.

Data shows that the block attracted over 30,000 visitors daily during the trial operation period, and 128,000 visitors on opening day, making it a new popular destination for leisure, sightseeing and shopping.
