Guiyang Economic and Technological Development Zone (GETDZ) in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, recently introduced a comprehensive smart energy project with a total investment of 350 million yuan ($48.7 million).

The project is the zone's first comprehensive smart new energy demonstration project since it began making efforts to promote and attract investment.

The project includes the construction of a 100-megawatt distributed photovoltaic system, supporting energy storage sub-projects, the installation of charging piles, the establishment of a comprehensive smart energy operation management platform, and the expansion of hydrogen production businesses, with the ultimate goal being the efficient integration of solar energy and hydrogen clean energy. The project is expected to be completed and put into operation by the end of 2027.

It is estimated to reduce standard coal consumption by 8,840 metric tons per year, carbon dioxide emissions by 29,000 tons, sulfur oxides by 862 tons, and nitrogen oxides by 424 tons.

The project is expected to play a leading and driving role in the high-quality development of new energy systems in the zone, increasing the effective supply of clean energy, promoting the clean transformation of high-energy-consuming industries, fostering innovation in high-end equipment manufacturing industries, and reducing electricity costs for local enterprises.
