Renowned for its cool summer climate, Guiyang's tourism market is currently experiencing a peak season, ranking third among the top 10 coolest destinations for car rentals in Ctrip's summer travel data.
In recent years, Guiyang has been leveraging its pleasant climate to enhance its tourism offerings. A highlight of this strategy is the sojourn service, which attracts nearly 100,000 tourists each summer, with an impressive 45 percent staying for over 30 days.
As China's first National Forest City, Guiyang enjoys an average summer temperature of 22.3 degrees Celsius and a negative oxygen ion concentration of over 10,000 per cubic centimeter, earning it the title of "China's Summer Resort Capital." It boasts over 40 A-level tourist attractions.
A new "Shuangyou Travel & Stay" mini-program has been launched in the city, offering comprehensive services such as inquiries, bookings, check-ins, reviews, guides, and news. The mini-program currently lists over 200 merchants and more than 5,000 beds, categorized into residential houses, boutique homestays, vacation hotels, and urban apartments. All listings have undergone rigorous screening.
The rural tourism market is also thriving. In Wudang district's Yangchang town, temporary resident cards have been issued to tourists, allowing them to enjoy free admission to scenic spots and shopping discounts, according to Yuan Huibin, the town's Party secretary.
The convenience of urban living has been driving demand for city tourism. Guiyang is exploring various types of urban tourism, including community-based, hotel-based, and fixed-location options, to meet the needs of various tourists. It has also upgraded commercial streets and hosted cultural and sports activities such as street concerts and marathons to improve the tourist experience.
"We will continue to enhance our summer travel products and optimize urban public services to better meet the diversified and personalized leisure and vacation needs of the tourism market, fully showcasing the unique charm of cool Guiyang," noted Long Cong, Guiyang's vice-mayor.
