On Dec 19, the data center project of China Construction Bank (CCB) was launched in Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area, Southwest China's Guizhou province.

Aiming to establish a national computing power network and drive the development of the country's digital economy, a primary production center for big data business, high-performance computing center, smart ecosystem center, and core data backup center will be built.

This project will be CCB's largest data center in the nation, covering an area of 476.5 mu (31.77 hectares) with a planned total investment of 11.3 billion yuan ($1.5 billion), boasting 30,000 racks and 300,000 servers.

The data center, along with a demonstration base for big data applications, will mostly consist of data center buildings, research and development facilities, training rooms, office spaces, and production and living support facilities. The project will be implemented in phases with an initial investment of approximately 3.76 billion yuan for the first phase. It is expected to deploy around 8,748 cabinets to meet the deployment needs of approximately 100,000 servers.

CCB is one of the banks that early on proposed the development of financial technology. It is deploying computing power nationwide, planning to establish four major data center clusters in the regions nearby Beijing, Central and Western China, the Yangtze River Delta, and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
