Explore nature at gem exhibition in Guiyang

From Jan 3 to Mar 30, a gem exhibition is held at the Geological Museum of Guizhou in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province.
The exhibition features 108 sets of gems and raw stones, with a total of 378 exhibits, including seven globally recognized rare and precious gems – alexandrite, taaffeite, bixbite, benitoite, phosphophyllite, black opal, and demantoid.

The exhibition is divided into four units. The first unit introduces the formation and aesthetic standards of gemstones, from past to present. The second unit focuses on the legendary stories behind diamonds, rubies, sapphires, emeralds, chrysoberyls and opals, revealing the transformation and evolution of the meanings associated with gems over time.
The third unit mainly introduces the birthstones associated with different months to express humanity's aspirations and wishes for a better life. The fourth unit elaborates on the different colors and brightness of gemstones, explaining the varied meanings represented by gemstone colors, which serve as profound imprints of human culture and emotions.
The exhibition aims to deeply explore the scientific value and cultural significance of gemstones, promoting science education, creative historical and cultural transformation, and innovative development, showcasing the unique charm of natural resources to the public.
