On Jan 12, the fifth session of the 15th Guiyang municipal people's congress reviewed the Guiyang government work report, which outlines ambitious plans for Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area in Southwest China's Guizhou province. This year, the region aims to enrich its "Six Cool" concept by focusing on resources, visitors, and services to accelerate its transformation into a globally recognized tourist destination.

Integrating culture with tourism

Guiyang will develop a range of premium educational tourism courses and cultural tourism products, including 10 new boutique red tourism routes departing from Guiyang. Plans include building the Guizhou Ethnic Culture Park and enhancing the Colorful Guizhou City with festivals celebrating local customs. Over 120 roadside music concerts will also be held as part of efforts to combine "music and tourism".

Blending sports with tourism

Guiyang and Gui'an will upgrade their sports facilities and introduce over 100 summer sporting events. The Guiyang Marathon and other "Running Guiyang" series races will continue, and major national and international competitions, like the Youth Climbing Championship, will be hosted. Various sporting events will also be organized to boost tourism.

Expanding summer retreat tourism

In areas such as Huaxi district, Xifeng county, and Xiuwen county, demonstration sites for boutique homestays will be developed, and six newly classified boutique homestays will be added. Guiyang and Gui'an plan to introduce no less than 250,000 square meters of summer retreat real estate and improve infrastructure around "food, accommodation, transportation, travel, shopping, and entertainment" to attract at least 250,000 long-term summer residents.

Enhancing service quality

Guiyang and Gui'an plan to promote chartered bus services and crack down on irregularities in the tourism market. Promotional campaigns targeting key domestic markets will be launched alongside efforts to use Guiyang's 240-hour visa-free transit policy to attract international travelers. The goal is to increase overnight stays by 8 percent and inbound tourism by 50 percent.
