On July 31, a direct flight route from Hong Kong to Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, was officially launched. Guiyang became the sixth city on the Chinese mainland and the first in southwest China to be serviced by Hong Kong Express Airways Limited  (HK Express).

Currently, HK Express is the only airline in Hong Kong operating a direct route to Guiyang. The new route operates four flights per week - on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays. Flights UO246 and UO247 are scheduled to operate on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The former will depart from Hong Kong at 6:10 am and arrive at Guiyang at 8:10 am, while the latter will depart from Guiyang at 8:55 am and arrive at Hong Kong at 11:05 am.

Flights UO244 and UO245 are scheduled to operate on Fridays and Sundays. The former will depart from Hong Kong at 8:35 pm and arrive at Guiyang at 10:20 pm, while the latter will depart from Guiyang at 11:20 pm and arrive at Hong Kong at 1:25 am the next day.

"Before, we had to transfer in another city if we wanted to go to Guizhou, but now it only takes a little over two hours to fly there directly. I can come at any time on the weekend," a tourist from Hong Kong said. Additionally, relying on HK Express' extensive route network covering over 30 destinations in Asia, passengers from Guizhou can easily reach Southeast Asia and Northeast Asia.
