On Sept 8, the Yunyan district, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, was announced to make the list of the "Cities with Nature" platform during the 2025 Global Ocean Development Forum.

Serving as an important political, economic, cultural, technological, and educational center of the province, Yunyan is the birthplace of the old city of Guiyang, boasting a rich history and culture, convenient transportation, and thriving commerce. It features a diverse topography, mild climate, abundant rainfall, and rich biodiversity, including nationally protected plants and animals like the banfenghe, rock-born Chinese yew, macaques and buzzards.

"Cities with Nature" is the world's largest platform for sharing knowledge and cases of biodiversity conservation in urban and local. In 2024, Guiyang was selected to join the "Cities with Nature" platform, marking its outstanding achievements in biodiversity conservation.
