Guiyang and Gui'an's economy surges during October holiday

Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, saw total tourist consumption amounting to 11.31 billion yuan ($1.58 billion) during the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holidays, an increase of 7.1 percent year-on-year, ranking first in both total tourist consumption and growth rate among the province's nine cities and prefectures.

During the eight-day holiday, a total of 204 promotional activities were launched, including Guiyang Fashion Week. Consumption in key commercial areas, such as Huaguoyuan and Guiyang Railway Station, increased by 5.8 percent and 6.1 percent year-on-year. Sales in major malls, such as MixC and GR Shopping Mall, grew by 27.7 percent and 34 percent, respectively, year-over-year.

Major commercial districts across the city launched diverse nighttime-themed consumption activities such as "Daily Coffee, Night Wine" and "Holiday Tipsy". The total nighttime consumption in Guiyang reached 2.62 billion yuan, representing a 4 percent year-on-year increase. Sales on Qingyun Road Pedestrian Street, Cao Zhuangyuan Street, and Under Light, which focus on nighttime consumption, increased by 25.4 percent, 36.6 percent, and 34 percent, respectively, year-over-year.

The catering industry also experienced an overall year-on-year growth of 8.8 percent during the holiday season. For instance, the "A Global Taste, Guiyang Craft Beer" event attracted nearly 150,000 visitors, with shop revenues exceeding 1.5 million yuan, boosting the surrounding commercial area's restaurant turnover by 20 percent.

Consumers from outside the province, within the province, and within the city contributed consumption amounts of 3.08 billion yuan, 2.6 billion yuan, and 5.62 billion yuan, respectively, with year-on-year increases of 8.9 percent, 7.6 percent, and 5.8 percent.
