On Oct 13, the direct flight route from Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province, to Penang, Malaysia, was launched. It further strengthens the "aerial bridge" between Guizhou and Southeast Asia, and promotes cultural exchanges and tourism cooperation between the two regions.
As of now, the number of international and regional routes at Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport has increased to 13. Malaysian tourists previously faced over 10 hours of travel to reach Guizhou, but the new direct flight from Penang has cut this time down to just four hours and 20 minutes. Flight OD602 departs Penang at 8:10 pm and arrives in Guiyang at 12:30 am the following day. Flight OD603 departs from Guiyang at 1:30 pm and arrives at Penang at 5:50 pm.
With a total of 12 flights, this route is scheduled to operate one flight per week and will run until Dec 28. Currently, the occupancy rate of inbound tourists on this flight exceeds 75 percent and continues to grow.
