Recently, the 2025 Top 100 Chinese Health and Wellness Cities Ranking was announced, with Guiyang ranking fourth nationwide. Among the five main indicators in the health and wellness city index system, Guiyang ranked first in ecological environment and also performed well in industrial integration, residents' well-being, and health policies.

Guiyang features a subtropical, humid, and mild climate, with an average annual temperature of 15 C and summer temperatures around 23 C. The air quality remains excellent in both Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area, with readings of about 99 percent throughout the year. The city boasts a forest coverage of over 55 percent, and 87.92 percent of park greening activities are within the service radius of designated sites.

The "health and wellness+" integrated business model is quickly developing in Guiyang and Gui'an. New initiatives, such as mountain sports, hot springs, and intangible cultural heritage, are emerging to cater to diverse, personalized needs. For example, projects like the Xifeng Hot Spring Forest Wellness Base and the Taoyuan River National Forest Wellness Base blend natural scenery with hot spring therapies, forest trails, and health monitoring facilities, creating destinations that combine leisure and health care. In addition, by utilizing Guiyang and Gui'an's rich ethnic medicine resources, local hospitals and wellness centers provide specialized services such as Miao ethnic medicine baths and acupuncture therapies.

In recent years, Guiyang and Gui'an have developed a robust healthcare infrastructure, including two medical groups, eight county-level medical communities, and six county-level medical sub-centers. They have also established four national regional medical centers and added 10 tertiary hospitals with over 8,000 beds, supporting the growth of the health and wellness sector. As of now, Guiyang and Gui'an operate 106 elderly care facilities, comprising 44 street elderly service centers and 353 community elderly service stations, which are 2.7 times the scale of 2020. The total elderly care beds number 11,400, with 71 percent designated as nursing beds.
