Guiyang and Gui'an unveil plan to improve people's lives

Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area in Southwest China's Guizhou province announced 10 tasks on Jan 19 designed to improve people's lives in 2026.

Education: Build, renovate, and expand 25 schools, add 25,000 admission places, and improve 200 primary and secondary school canteens.

Employment: Create 150,000 new urban jobs, and establish the Guiyang and Gui'an comprehensive service center for persons with disabilities.

Culture:‌ Create the "Jiaxiu Cuiwei" Yangming Culture Lounge.

Healthcare:‌ Include depression in the basic medical insurance list of chronic and special diseases. Provide free screenings for adolescent mental health and congenital heart disease in newborns, totaling 20,000 people. Offer free health check-ups to 10,000 frontline sanitation workers.

Fitness:‌ Organize 11,000 campus football matches. Build 100 public fitness venues and facilities.

Elderly care:‌ Enhance the service capacity of 100 community elderly service stations, and construct more places to provide meals for the elderly.

Drinking water safety:‌ Continue the rural water supply security improvement project.

Housing:‌ Secure 3,000 units (rooms) of affordable housing.

Transportation:‌ Add and improve 5,500 parking spaces. Implement 150 kilometers of rural road safety protection projects and urban "mixed traffic of motor vehicles and non-motorized vehicles" special rectification. Rectify 100 km of blind path and roadside tree safety hazards, respectively.

Urban safety:‌ Renovate 15 km of aging urban gas pipelines.
