The project addresses challenges such as the complex operation process of traditional self-test products, the risk of cross-contamination during sampling, unclear result interpretation, and high barriers for public use. The design integrates three core modules - sampling, immune response, and result display - into one product, making the entire home self-testing process more convenient, safe, and accurate.

The Red Dot Award, established in 1955, is considered one of the top three international industrial design awards, alongside the German iF Design Award and the American IDEA Award. It is a prestigious benchmark for measuring global innovation design strength and product design quality.
However, this is not the first time the school has made a breakthrough in a top international design competition. In 2022, a student team also guided by Xiang won a spot in the global top 300 at the IF Design Talent Awards with their design project titled "lnfusion does not waste", which focused on conserving medical resources.
